Mortimer Dyster:
YÖKIELONKUKKA (A Lily of the Night Valley)

Teoskuva.

A warm welcome to the opening of the exhibition by Mortimer Dyster on Wednesday, December 3rd, from 5 to 7 PM!
The exhibition YÖKIELONKUKKA (A Lily of the Night Valley) will be on view at HAA Gallery (Hall 2) from December 4, 2025 to January 3, 2026.

Mortimer Dyster’s YÖKIELONKUKKA (A Lily of the Night Valley) examines the human relationship with nature through a queer gaze.

The work creates a reparative dialogue between queer culture and Finnish landscape imagery, while also opening new perspectives on how to see oneself as part of the landscape.

Dyster’s gaze carries melancholy, mysticism, and poetic realism. His inspiration rises from the night and from the esoteric imagery of the collective queer unconscious.

YÖKIELONKUKKA is a liminal land — an in-between state — that imagines a utopian sense of freedom and beauty.

The exhibition is supported by the Arts Promotion Centre Finland and the Finnish Cultural Foundation.
