My recent work is comprised of watercolour paintings that I have made in the forests of Herttoniemi and Viikki at a walking distance from my studio. These small urban woods in the middle of Helsinki are astonishingly diverse. I am not a biologist, but I believe this is due to the forests having been left as they are. Interference only occurs if a fallen tree needs to be removed from a footpath or such, otherwise the abundance of flora and fauna is allowed to thrive, and the fallen trees to rest in peace. As a painter, these woods keep on giving me new experiences and inspiration for my work both visually and metaphorically.
