Malmitalo gallery presents the exhibition SEE ME by Maria Mughal from October 4th until October 22nd, 2022.

“The theme of my latest paintings is the perspective of bicultural children, the world of imagination, daydreams and dreams. 

Themes arise from my own childhood, such as friendship, invisibility and being seen, without forgetting the desire to please, infatuation and fragility. At that age, many things may seem uncertain and difficult, but at the same time, everything can still be possible. Although there is often only one person in the picture, my paintings are nevertheless stories of encounter, seeing and being seen, interaction, belonging to something and acceptance. There is also a longing for the transience, fragility and change of everything. When a child grows up and learns new things, doors open to the new and unknown. However, in all its finesse, it also means the end of one era and the closing of other doors.” 

Maria Mughal has been working as a professional visual artist since 2004 (Master of Arts). She mainly paints and also makes public artworks. She has had art exhibitions regularly in Finland and abroad.  Mughal's exhibition has been supported by Grafia and Artist Association of Viipuri.
