Merja Hujo and Suvi Laine-Karsten:
Becky & Doris, "Absurdistan"

Visual artists Merja Hujo and Suvi Laine-Karsten have created an installation for the Malmitalo Gallery that consists of paintings, drawings, assemblage art, and a collection of objects.  

Their installation presents an absurd world where imaginary beings, Becky and Doris, stand frozen in place, observing and experiencing the reality around them. They construct their own world as a counterbalance to the seemingly absurd events occurring in the real world. Even the most difficult experiences have been transformed into bizarre and absurd forms. 

Flowers, unusual figures, and original drawing patterns embody a state that evokes deep emotions while preserving the meaning of the human experience in the face of helplessness and suffering in today’s world.
