Astrid Strömberg: Side Walk (Hall 2)

"Surface, shape and colour. The things I register, standing, walking, sitting. I daydream in a room of a time and place that maybe never existed but I thought it did. I’m longing for finding a solution but all I come up with is suggestions. The familiar shape suggesting a small portal or window, some blocked others open. I weave a fictional surrounding together with the surrounding of the warm summer evening walk on my midsummer street with him. It’s you and me, walking, standing, sitting, dreaming of that moment that already passed."

Astrid Strömberg (b. 1990) is a painter that works with oil painting and installed painting. Her expression moves between a cartoonish flat aesthetics, arcane forms and figuration. Her works are included in the Saastamoinen Foundation’s collection at the Espoo Museum of Modern Art Emma and in the Pro Artibus Foundation’s art collection. She earned her Master of Fine Arts degree from the Academy of Fine Arts in 2020.

Side Walk is kindly supported by Svenska Kulturfonden and Konstsamfundet.
