Olof Kangas:
Paintings

Gallery Rikhard | Rikhardinkatu Library lobby

My paintings are kinds of "soul landscapes" or journeys in time and space. The circle symbolises the cosmic wholeness of the universe, timelessness, eternity... I paint in many transparent, overlapping layers that reflect both the inner and the other in this wholeness. Beyond, or through the visible layers of colour I have a feeling of secret landscapes, of dreams, longing, and other ungraspable impressions of feelings. Inspiration comes from inner fantasies, close-ups of patterns, and structures in the endless world of forms and colours in nature.
