Laura Ilvessalo: Colour Dialogues

Helsinki-based visual artist and textile designer Laura Ilvessalo’s Colour Dialogues exhibition invites viewers to a conversation between the chromatic harmonies of colours. In her oil paintings, Ilvessalo explores the expressive relationships of colours that arise when different hues of one colour interact, clash and complement one another. The colours and themes of the works challenge us to think about how different cultural, emotional and personal colour interpretations shape our understanding of visual language. Each piece as a monochromatic, meditative entity acts as a unique dialogue and contributes to a wider experience of the power of colour to evoke, inspire and provoke. As you move through the space, consider yourself a participant in these chromatic conversations. Which colours speak to you and what stories do they tell?
