The Helsinki Artists’ Association represents nearly 1,000 visual artists from Helsinki and includes many active practitioners of media art. An open call for member artists resulted in a diverse compilation of media art for this exhibition. The exhibition was curated by Satu Kalliokuusi and Eeva Muona from the Helsinki Artists’ Association. Three video works have been selected, all of which reflect on the significance of the sea to humanity. What does the future hold for our neighboring sea, the Baltic Sea? What thoughts does the theme of the Sea of the Future evoke? The works explore this theme in both concrete and suggestive ways and encourage us to consider environmental changes and their potential impacts in the future.
Media art receives significant attention at Oodi. The spacious venue and excellent technical resources of the media library provide an open and accessible platform for presenting media art. The works in the exhibition will be showcased as large projections on the walls of Oodi’s lobby.
Through Oodi’s exhibitions, the Helsinki Artists’ Association aims to enhance the visibility of media art and offer artists diverse opportunities for artistic expression.
