Image of the World
The World is an Image, Perception of Perception.
The story of light sensitive being begins in the dark..
One sensitized cell grows into algae,
this entity moves from the water to the land,
grows into a fern, a tree, a flower, a bird..
Finally, after many coincidences,
into an eye specialized for light.
Neural networks create perception functions for the object,
and the world of man is born.
The theme of Image of the World,
So I Perceive I am,
thinks in philosophical structures and sentences,
systems of Perception,
as poetic pictures and evolutionary paintings
the experience of being in the world,
Possibility
or Impossibility of
Free Observation.
Matti Sääski (b. 1959) renews the question layouts and artistic methods of his previous exhibitions ”Beyond the Rainbow” (1986), ” Of Purpose On Purpose” (2022) and ”Enchanted” (2024).
The structure of the exhibition is challenging.
Image, Philosophy and Language do not take turns or discuss,
They are One in Itself.
Human’s superior Perceptive Power was developed in the World for survival and adaptation. Good Perception, immediately well interpreted, is a prerequisite for Life. At the same time, all the experiences of Being in the World, Feelings and Interactions with fellow species, and gods are connected to it.
The techniques and Perceptual Structures of the paintings (Light, Color, Line, Space, Structure, etc.) describe the historical and evolutionary stages of the Sensitive World of Light, the content of each Perceptual function, and the interaction with others.
The construction materials and techniques of life and art are here traditional: light-sensitive and light-resistant pigments, tempera, oil, resin, glue paint, ink, binders, cyanotype chemicals, etc. for fiber papers, glue chalk fabric bases, metal, glass, acrylic glass. Collage and mixed media.
The viewer sees Visions, experiences Revelations, and can wonder what the Image of the World is.. or whether he lives in it..
