Little Ecological Fable – The Forest is a research-based series dealing with image-making and ecology, questioning the ethical challenges and the limits of the sustainability of artistic production. It browses representations of nature, looks on both the creative field and this of the land, and scans agrarian metaphors used within the former: compression, grain, broadcasting, culture, farm…
Grounded in appropriation, the organically evolving experimental corpus that is -The Forest consists of harvested pictures, images, quotes, edits and mockups. The exhibition features 11 giclée prints in reused faux wood frames, locally printed in Finland on agave fiber Fine Art paper. The whole is run by an economy of means, of the few, the not much.
Laurene Bois-Mariage is a Finland-based visual artist originating from France, who develops a protean artistic practice through photography-, digital-, and installation arts.
Here presented for the first time in Helsinki, -The Forest has been seen so far within Photo Fringe Biennial (2022–23, Uk), 60Seconds Festival (2023, Dk), One-Off Moving Image Festival (2023, Es/No), Nature group exhibition at CICA Museum (2023, Kr), Color Your Dreams Pavillion at The Wrong Biennale (2023–24, Es/No), Urbana Hortus group exhibition at Art Center Ahjo (2024, Joensuu) and object of a solo exhibition at Tahmelan Huvila Gallery (2024, Tampere).
