Aino Salmi: Always Something
Recurring interruptions in our activities might, after all, be the common thread in life.
Salmi’s relaxed and expressive mark making plays with mischievous observations of people bending in the banality of the everyday. A disfigured, tragicomic, downright chuckle-inducing cavalcade of characters being or doing is marched out in the seemingly effortless, lush stills.
Aino Salmi graduated from Free Art School as a painter in 2014. She lives and works in Helsinki. Salmi is one of the Purkutaide collective artists, whose next major exhibition IhmemaaX opens to the public in June 2024 in Kerava. Previous Purkutaide collective group exhibition, Taiteen Kotitalo, situated in a block of flats waiting to be demolished in Ahjo, Kerava reached a record 50 000 visitors and was widely covered in national media.
The life-filled works with their accompanying stories form a powerful whole. Experience the exhibition in Gallery Katariina!
